The Big West League has posted the Big West 2025 Important Dates. Below are the game nights of play for each age group
Practice nights and schedules are left up to individual team coaches to determine. After teams are formed coaches will work with the ROSA field coordinator to determine field availability and schedule their team practices. ROSA does not set a specific practice schedule by team or age group.
10U - 18U Travel teams will typically play in 2 -3 weekend tournaments per season in addition to the state qualifier and state tournament. Selection of which tournaments each team will compete in is determined by the coach after the teams are formed.
8U Travel teams will typically play in 1-2 weekend tournaments per season in addition to the state tournament. Selection of which tournaments each team will compete in is determined by the coach after the teams are formed.
MN Softball STATE and STATE QUALIFIERS have been moved up earlier this year.
10U/12U State Qualifier dates are TBD
8U/10U/12U State Tournament dates are TBD

Travel teams are formed using an "evaluation / tryout" process that typically consists of the following
Hitting and Bunting: A pitching machine is used for each age group and players are provided 3 practice swings followed by a couple bunts and few full swings that are evaluated.
In-fielding: Players are positioned at shortstop where they are expected to field balls that are hit at them and throw the ball to first base.
Out-fielding: Players are positioned in the outfield where they are expected to catch flyballs and throw the ball in to a cutoff position. The flyballs are either thrown by hand or through a pitching machine depending on the environment used for tryouts. The flyballs are positioned directionally to the players sides, in front or behind them.
Running: Players are timed in a 80 - 100 foot sprint. Each player is allowed 2 attempts, where the fastest time is used.
